Start with an internal estimate: machine electrical demand in kW multiplied by your local electricity rate per kWh, plus assist gas consumption multiplied by the delivered gas rate, plus an allocation for consumables, maintenance, and labor. If material handling, deburring, or part sorting is part of the job, include those activities separately instead of hiding them inside the laser number.
This method is more useful than copying a cost figure from another shop because electric tariffs, gas contracts, shifts, material mix, and automation levels vary. A 5 ft x 10 ft (1.5 m x 3 m) sheet workflow and a large-format plate workflow can also place different demands on the surrounding process.
Separate electricity, assist gas, and production flow

Operator labor may include loading, unloading, quality checks, nesting preparation, and remnant handling. Automation can change where labor occurs, but it does not remove the need to measure material flow. Compare the complete job path before deciding whether a configuration improves cost per part.
